Texas CHL (Concealed Handgun License) has been renamed to Texas LTC (License to Carry)

Dummy Wallet

Dummy, False, or Secondary Wallet

Retain and Protect your Critical Info

Using the Dummy or Secondary Wallet technique may help you retain your critical information during an attack or robbery.

We also recommended using a RFID Blocking wallet to help secure your credit card information from remote scanning.

Dummy or False Wallet

It can be “thrown away” from you letting you get away.

This is exactly as it sounds. A second wallet that you carry that does have any real or important in it. Maybe a few expired credit cards, and other “fake” items are included. If you do decide to use this option, try and make it as real as possible, and DO include some REAL cash. I am not a huge fan of this technique, mainly because of the fact that since it isn’t something real, you might not carry it everywhere that you go. Of course, it doesn’t do you any good, if you don’t have it with you when you are attacked, and we can’t predict if or when that will be, but can limit the chances!

Second (Secondary) Wallet
Essential this means carrying your most critical items like your drive license, CHL License, Social Security Card (if you carry it on you), Debit Card, and other important information in a place that can’t be easily taken away from you (like a purse or brief case) and if attacked, giving up a wallet with expired or non-important credit cards and information (i.e. Grocery Card, etc).
Instead of actually carrying two wallets, I choose to carry a wallet and a card case with a money clip build in. See our Amazon Store for recommended Secondary Wallets and Money Clips.

A Little More About Dummy or Secondary Wallets

Make sure that you keep some real cash in the wallet! It will help appease your attacker.

No matter which method that you choose to use, even on the Dummy or False wallets, DO NOT have the wallet empty, and we strongly recommend that you do have some cash in it. A few non-essential, expired, or even fake credit cards are even better. This should look as real as possible and hopefully appease the attacker enough that they will leave, or allow you to leave unharmed and safe. Having the wallet empty, especially when it comes to cash, might provoke your attacker.

Remember, you’re only trying to survive the attack and hopefully not get physically hurt. Some experts recommend throwing the wallet away from you and away from your escape route, in order to distract your attacker long enough for you to get away. Again, using this technique might work, but depending on where you throw it, it might provoke your attacker.  In other words, I wouldn’t throw it too far away from him, maybe in the opposite direction, but definitely not too close to you or your exit path.

Great Dummy or Secondary Wallet  Brands

Wallet with Money Clip

The brands are endless, since this is just a real wallet.

We suggest that it is different than you actual or primary wallet so you can easily tell the difference.  My primary is a wallet with a built in money clip, while my secondary wallet is a normal single fold wallet.
