Intoxication with or without a LTC Handgun
Many Texans enjoy an alcoholic beverage from time to time. With all of the TV ads and other notifications we have received over the years, we are often reminded that we shouldn’t drink and drive. However, do you realize that you can be arrested for intoxication when you have a LTC license and your handgun with you? The State of Texas does define what “intoxication” means when you are carry your LTC handgun.
(A) not having the normal use of mental or physical faculties by reason of the introduction of alcohol, a controlled substance, a drug, a dangerous drug, a combination of two or more of those substances, or any other substance into the body; or
(B) having an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more.
It is always going to be recommended that if you are carry your LTC handgun, that you do not consume alcohol. If you do, unload your handgun and lock it away out of your immediate reach. It might be worth installing a lock box in your vehicle trunk or even under your seat.

Intoxication, with or without a LTC Handgun, will probably mean the loss of your LTC handgun license. Often, it requires a visit in front of a judge for the chance to get your license reinstated. We have been told that these trials often do not go in the favor for the defendant.
